Objectives:
By the end of the tutorial participants should be able to:
- Identify legislation and DH guidance relevant to UK Emergency Planning and Response
- Recognise the role of ERD in emergency planning and response in the UK
- State the likely psychological impacts of infectious disease emergencies on the population
Competencies

Be familiar with the general principles of emergency planning and managing a major chemical incident, including the role and legal responsibility of the local department of public health and other agencies. 2.16
Contribute effectively to the management of an actual or simulated chemical or other major incident. New curriculum: 2.12 Understand the need for and be able to undertake a rapid appraisal of evidence (i.e within minutes/hours, not days)
